The City of Copperas Cove's logo is the "City Built for Family Living" and gets its nickname of the “City of Five Hills” and logo from the five hills that surround the city. The majority of Copperas Cove and its approximately 33,122 residents is in Coryell County; however, its city limits extend into neighboring Bell and Lampasas counties. 

Copperas Cove has long been recognized as a premier biking and running destination in Central Texas. The city is in the middle of miles of scenic, well-maintained, paved roads. There are at least 25 bicycle routes, ranging from 10 miles to 100 miles, with loops that start or end near Copperas Cove. 

The Copperas Cove Independent School District serves the educational needs of over 8,000 students at six elementary schools, two junior high schools, one high school and one alternative high school. 

Besides the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, the Metroplex Health System has partnered with the Scott and White Hospital to provide medical services to the local population. 

There are also many education opportunities for adults in close proximity to Copperas Cove and include Texas A&M University – Central Texas (TAMU-CT), which recently broke ground on a new campus that will be equipped to serve 15,000 upper-level students, upon completion. Other colleges and universities in the area include Central Texas College, University of Phoenix, St Mary’s University, and the University of Maryland. Additionally, the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and Temple Junior College are approximately a 45 minute drive from Copperas Cove.
