Fort Hood/Fort Cavazos is the Army's premier installation to train and deploy heavy forces. A 214,968-acre installation, Fort Hood/Fort Cavazos is the only post in the United States capable of stationing and training two armored divisions. 

The rolling, semi-arid terrain is ideal for multifaceted training and testing of military units and troops. 

Additionally the Killeen, Copperas Cove, Harker Heights, Belton, Gatesville, Temple and Lampasas communities that surround Fort Hood/Fort Cavazos are a model of support for Army families.  One look is all it takes to discover how Fort Hood/Fort Cavazos earned the famous nickname of,  "The Great Place."

NOTE: Fort Hood will be renamed Fort Cavazos no later than January 2024.
