Belton is approximately 20 miles east of Fort Hood and is in close proximity to major medical centers, area lakes and many recreational parks. 

Belton is strategically located in Central Texas at the crossroads of I-35 and Highway 190 in the center of the vibrant Temple-Killeen-Fort Hood metropolitan area. According to the Milken Institute, this region is the second fastest growing Texas metropolitan statistical area (MSA)  in the U.S. The military, government, medical services, manufacturing, service and agricultural/agribusiness sectors are major economic influences in the region. Major agriculture related commodities include corn, hay, beef, pecans and sorghum.
